Wacky random ramblings about wacky random trips

Beef Dinner in Kobe

Oh boy, so this was the big one. So excited for Matt to experience this, and honestly so excited for me to experience this again! Our sushi lunch was pretty amazing though… Matt went off to take a nap, Robert and I flipped through channels for a bit and then decided to head out. We had passed what was called “Whiskey Museum” earlier which caught our eye, rather than being a museum it was pretty much a straight up bar, which worked out better for us 😀 Very sad I don’t have many pictures, this was a really fun place!

Our very first sample
All of our bartenders in Japan are twelve years old, max
Despite not being old enough to drink, he somehow knows his stuff!
They really had a ton of stuff!! Surprised we ever left haha
Had a great time here!! Our whiskies were bizarrely cheap but we didn’t complain too much lol

Then we sauntered back to the hotel, changed clothes, collected Matt, and then… it was time for the big one.

This is about as dressed up as I get these days 😀

Excitement was running high for a big beef dinner–in friggin Kobe Japan itself!!–and we hurried off down the street to the wrong Kobe beef restaurant on the wrong second floor lol

The correct restaurant was just next door, and a lady kindly led us all the way there: down the stairs, then back up the stairs to safely deliver us to our door, very worried us clueless tourists might get ourselves lost on the way next door lol it was really sweet of her though

Now this was the right spot!
All kinds of vegetative oddities here, plus you can see all the garlic slices on the grill!!
OMG (again)
Matt got the super-duper absolutely top-rated cut. That’s the Certificate of Authenticity just below the steak, and the large paper shows all the crucial facts: name, age, the lineage is in the center going back two generations (grandparents on the far right), then a big identifying nose print on the far left
Nose print close up
Us kind of ready to be eating steak at this point haha but we should note that Matt’s beautiful cow’s name was Ayako
What can I say? Steak was miraculous, experience was amazing
But as usual, all too soon it was over…

And so we headed back to the hotel to collapse and digest lol was def yet another night to remember!
