Saturday morning we decided to check out this huge park right in the middle of the cityBut then it was back into the city for lunch! Hah you can still see our fav Red Sox fan at the lower leftWe picked a sort of difficult tempura place, it took us a bit to even figure out where the door was 😀There ya go!We did manage to order some stuff, up on the third floor lol and it was really fun!lol here’s the wreckage of our table after we were all doneThe more informal first floor of the restaurantThen it was back out to wander the streets of Tokyo some moreOMG what’s that climbing over the top of the movie theater?!?AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!Tunnels were taken….… streets were somehow crossedFitness happenedCan you tell when the trip began? 😀To counteract all that fitness, we found a place to grab a beerWas a really fun little bar!Some exciting car on the leftHere’s that giant crazy crosswalk they always show on TV, the Shibuya Crossing… this is it emptyThen the lights change and it’s pandemonium!! There are always some people who race out to be first in the intersection and take pics of the oncoming hordes. There is also a giant StarBucks overlooking the crossing with crowds of people inside pressing their noses up against the glass to watch all the crazinessWacky Japanese architectureNow it’s time to take the subway to our very last dinner of the trip… omg how odd does that sound! Surely it can’t be over so soon????Bizarre WWII-era toys on display in the subway, best not to look too closely 😀Saw a barrel of Maker’s Mark on the way to dinner!In no time we arrived for dinner, the very last sushi dinner in Japan sadlyAs usual it was insanely good, I think this trip has ruined me for life, not sure I can tolerate non-Japanese sushi any more!The chef had a personality! There was a very interesting fish just served, and Robert guessed it was from Hokkaido? The chef looked a bit affronted and told us exactly where that fish was caught (some mysterious bay we didn’t recognize) but later on in the meal when uni was served, he came over to Robert, slapped his hand down on the counter, and said “This!! From Hokkaido!!”Here’s the second whale of the trip….Sake is flowing fast & furiousAll this is nigiri by now, and the chef takes extra care in maintaining a certain rice temperature. He places the nigiri carefully on the counter in front of you, and with your fingers you immediately pick it up and pop it into your mouth. For one of these courses, I took too long fiddling with my phone to get a pic, and the chef slapped my countertop, barking out “Quick!!” Consider me admonished, can’t let the rice get cold! Got to love a guy who takes what he does seriously.Uni was definitely from Hokkaido!! 😀 The chef did have a big smile when he announced that definitively to Robert hahaOh wow I almost forgot, see that white card in the back to the right? That’s the identification of the tuna we are eating, all 156.2kgs of it lol (that’s 345 pounds of fish!) Sort of sad we didn’t get a nose-print thoExotic Japanese dessert hahaMatt scored a bonus fatty tuna serving!That’s the place!!Now we make our way hack through the big city so we can collapse on our beds (and prolly watch sumo haha)
