Pretty sure Robert and I were here on the Japan 2023 tripIt’s pretty imposing for sureMore shrinageStreet scenes in Kobe
We walked to the national park just outside the train station, the park Robert and I climbed all the way to the top of last trip, but this trip we decided on an easy elevator up to where you can catch cable-cars all the way to the top!
The gardens are pretty fun actuallyViews from the top are pretty insaneKind of a Swiss chalet vibe up hereThey had some fun little restaurants at the very top… we met some guy from Seattle who was here with friends to do some boating in the harbor. I kind of wish we had asked more about that, but too late now!The gardens go on and on, arranged by what plants you might want to use for particular dishes lolArtichokes!!Of course there is a vending machine, I think I got another trusty Pecari Sweat bottle lolWe hiked back down, mostly to enjoy seeing the waterfallsOn the hike down Matt found a fuzzy caterpillar trying to cross the path, so we took him to safetyThe park goes on and on tooBut we did finally make it to the bottom, then we hiked to lunchSushi lunch in Kobe, doesn’t look that thrilling from the outside, but just wait…..The calm before the stormThe chef has landed! And we start off with squid, one of Matt’s favoritesThis looked like salmon but wasn’t, it was a different seasonal fish which only looks like salmon lolNoticing our keen interest and attention, the chef started quizzing Robert on which fish was just served, it was really difficult especially with the white fishes!ScallopOur chef is still going strong… lunch was 100% nigiri so a lot of workThen for some reason he brought all his big knives out… see the blue-handled one?It looks pretty good on him! Robert is literally getting more and more Japanese by the moment, getting worried about him 😀That egg thing again hahaThe red-bean miso was intense, we judged it second-best miso of the trip! Finally it was dessert timeThen back to the hotel to put our feet up and think about dinner!
