No real theme to this post, just another happy day wandering around the big city.
Here’s a nice street performer for the kiddies… he takes an enormous drag on his cigarette (well, we’re hoping it’s just a cigarette :-D) and then blows giant smoke-filled soap bubbles for the kids to chase down!As always, the Acropolis is looming in the distanceWe found more old stuff!!This is part of the remains of the Temple of Zeus! This must have been absolutely massive back in the day (construction started around 500BC)OK this is a very cool shot: it’s taken from the Temple of Zeus through the Arch of Hadrian looking towards the Parthenon!You know the earth shook when that giant column collapsedIt’s absolutely massive!Matt & Sam taking it all inThe entire park is lined with alternating cypress and olive trees, the effect is quite extraordinaryA mysterious message from the ancient world… perhaps it’s referencing Ozymandias?Sam discovered an absolutely enormous prickly-pear bush, in full bloom no less!Reminded us of when we lived in Texas!These wacky flowers kept appearing; judging from their locations, I’m pretty sure these are considered weeds 😀Another shot of the Arch of Hadrian (first century)It’s hard to see the Acropolis without wanting to take yet another picture
