Wacky random ramblings about wacky random trips

Short day in Palermo

This was pretty crazy–I love these sorts of experiences, and they don’t come often any more, when we’re always stuck to Google Maps on our phones. Anyway, we had picked a pretty random street, and then a random direction and were walking through Palermo, and by complete surprise this amazing castle-like place opened up in front of us!

The famous Palermo Cathedral! We had no idea we were anywhere close to it! What a very nice surprise!
Looks rather forbidding from this angle!
Can anyone spot the modern art 😀
One of the original gates into historic Palermo

We wandered around outside the gate a bit but we quickly turned back into the Palermo historic district, a much better vibe in there.

Naturally there was pizza–Sicilian!!
Pizza was fab but I did have to laugh at my Pizza Margarita adorned with a single basel leaf 😂

On the way back, I got some shots of decent graffiti: Palermo puts Catania and Siracusa to shame! The bar has been raised!
