Views of the train station at Messina, on our way to Palermo. Trying to board a train here is pretty much like you’d expect: very Italian!! It begins with everyone crowding together as close as possible to (and over) the yellow line at the spot they expect to board. All this despite the train not even being here yet! Of course the train does finally show up, but it’s way down the track from where everyone was gathering, so the whole angry crowd moves over, and then it’s basically a rugby scrum: the poor people trying to get out are overwhelmed by the frantic crowd violently pushing their way in: I saw one poor guy with his luggage held high over his head as he attempted to simply get out of the train!! It’s sooooo much like the driving here: I will get ahead of you or happily die in the attempt!!!!
But we did make it onboard (Sam has very sharp elbows) and we got a lot of great views of random Sicily beachesGetting off in PalermoHeading out to find our AirBnBOh look, it’s like a Hobbit hole!!Inside is very grand! Our key is in a lockbox with a comboView off our balconyThis is seriously the wee-fee password I had to type in multiple timesHeaded to lunch first thing obviously 😀Buatta restaurant in PalermoSam was feeling a bit peckish so she ordered an entire f’ing chicken?? I ordered dead pork parts lolCygnus wine was legit off the hook, this lunch turned out randomly to be one of the best!! Maybe it was that there was no pasta, no pizza, and no seafood?Having eaten, the new streets beckon uslol I need to get more Euros but there is no way I’m using an ATM with the big casino 777!!!! showing above 😀Such a cozy pedestrian walkway!!WRONG!!! It’s a two-way street, at leastHah I laughed at “Gringo Burger” lolSome mysterious place with a ton of statuesThis turned out to be one of our favorite squares in the city, each of the four corners has a facade like this, the effect is stunning
We’ve only been here a few hours but we’re already quite impressed by Palermo
