Wacky random ramblings about wacky random trips

Lazy day around Spetses

So is a vacation day not spent manically rushing around doing every activity within reach a wasted vacation day? Not to me—today has been a lazy lazy day spent lounging around the beautiful hotel, then a long slow lunch in town. As I write this, everyone is napping 😀 As for me, I have a fresh drink and am gonna continue slogging through The Lord of the Rings appendixes while I lounge here by the pool.

The day began auspiciously with a new sighting of our small tortoise friend!

tiny garden tortoise
He seems to be having a lazy day as well
Tortoise is in the building!!
But next thing you know, he’s marching right through our door! Yes, Sam screamed 😀
Pete in a lounge chair by the pool waving a beer
Then suddenly it was Beer O’Clock
Giant red blooms
Crazy flowers are all over the place here
View from lunch, overlooking a rosemary plant into the harbor
View from lunch, I know I’ve posted from here a million times already, but you literally can’t see this without wanting to take another picture
Big ferry from the mainland
This is prolly the same ferry which brought us to the island
Mojito with fresh mint
Matt’s go-to recently has been mojitos, and when you order one here, the waiter immediately goes to a huge mint plant to clip off a few sprigs
That’s the mint plant in the center! This restaurant also has giant basil plants, plus rosemary, sage, oregano, and who knows what else
garish pink ice cream with chocolate sauce everywhere
Dessert of something cool & delicious
Very old cannon appearing to threaten a beautiful small sailing ship
Random view on the walk back from lunch
Sam is truckin!! I think she mentioned something about a bathroom? 😀
Rare selfie of the author
bizarre three-wheeled "van" of some sort
Some vehicles look a lot more European than others
Friggin potted plants are taller than I am!
These huge potted plants are all over, I’m a big fan
Like I keep saying, it’s hard to take a bad pic here. There goes Sam on another shopping mission!

Strangely, this post will omit dinner, and that’s because we finally experienced our first big dud meal of the trip. So no pics, you’ll have to trust me on this one.

But we salvaged the evening by going to a trusted place afterwards for a big fat bottle of red wine and a calorific dessert, then consoled ourselves with the amazing scenic walk home.

Skies starting to darken into endless shades of deeper and deeper blue
Venus and the moon keeping us company on the walk back
Spectacular orange and red sunset over the sea
Venus, Lunis, and Phallus
Sam just outside our hotel
It really is a slice of paradise here
