So it’s back to Italy to redo our previous experiment: can we actually work from anywhere? Last fall we bopped around to a million places (which was totally fun!) but we never fell into a routine: hard to work when you are moving every few days!
The work-abroad allure is easy to understand: we both work out of the house, and it could be out of any house, doesn’t have to be the one in Cincinnati. If we can successfully work abroad, then trips nearly pay for themselves (other than the airfare).
This time, we are going to spend three days in Rome, then (somehow) arrive in Todi where we have four weeks in a rented flat. Todi is a small walled hilltop town in Umbria: very historic, very scenic, we are imaging it to be a nice cosy base where we can work every day and not get too distracted. But it’s a gamble–will the internet be good enough for video calls? Will food be easy to get? Will our small flat be awful?
We are still mad about our BA business-class tickets from the last trip! These Delta Economy Plus seats are so much cheaper that the difference in ticket prices makes the entire rest of the trip essentially free! Yeah the seats aren’t lay-flat but honestly trans-Atlantic flights just aren’t that long… we had the extra leg-room I enjoy, I thought the whole experience was perfectly fine.
As usual, it’s been a really long day, but we are finally here in Rome, the 2025 adventure is about to begin!!
