Wacky random ramblings about wacky random trips

Trip to Aomori

First bullet train of the trip!! Hakodate is the northern-most end of their reach, so Matt has never been on one before–I’m looking forward to his reaction. This train line will take us through the Seikam Tunnel, the world’s longest at 53.8km. As always, these trains are literally as smooth as glass, you can’t even feel them starting until you notice things moving past you in the window

Train beers locked & loaded, these are the trip’s final Sapporo Classics since they are available only on Hokkaido (and of course regular Sapporos are so completely different tasting :-D)
Zipping past the rice paddies, our speed is night & day different from what we’ve been used to in Hokkaido, so all too quickly the ride was over. Did I mention that I just love the bullet trains??
The entire reason we are in Aomori is to eat at this guy’s restaurant Kashu, a French/Japanese fusion place which seats all of six people
Tonight’s menu! Obviously quite French lol
Two hungry travelers!!

Dinner at Kashu was great, Robert says it was his favorite of the trip so far! In the interest of time I’m just gonna blast out a bunch of dinner pictures

That’s a seaweed risotto with wasabi leaf (?!?)
Nice to have actual wine!! You can tell you’re in Asia by the name, “Hey Wang!”
The duck was just insane
OMG finally a nice normal dessert!! I just about fainted.
