Hot damn I have wanted to see this nearly my entire life!!! Excitement is running high—and speaking of running, that also describes my backside 😀 I wasn’t sure I’d be able to pull this off today just now, but I’m feeling my insides have calmed themselves down enough where we could chance it.
Finally on our way to the top of the Acropolis!!
But first a quick stop at the Jeffrey Epstein parkJust seeing these signs was so exciting! Even though I kept reading “diarrhea” rather than “Dionysos” lol but so far so goodAnd right on cue, here’s a dude on the potWe walked right past the Theatre of Dionysos, it’s over 2000 years old and absolutely massive. We learned it had only recently been discovered and excavated, so I didn’t feel so bad that I’d never heard of it beforeStrangely, we weren’t the only ones who wanted to see this site!Freaking fedoras…..And at long last… this thing is absolutely huge!!! Does not disappoint!Sam is still ready to kick its ass tho! Some other temple lol by now I’m just numb, the place is absolutely overwhelmingDid I mention it’s massive? Over two thousand years ago, imagine quarrying this stone, transporting it, shaping it & building with it at the top of a small mountain?!?The scale of all this is simply staggeringTheatre of Dionysos as seen from the top, you just wonder what spectacles took place there back in the dayHere we are stuck in the endless line to get down… so yeah it’s a total PIA both ways. Just as slow getting back down as coming up but wow what an experience!! This is one you’ll remember.
