A few decades ago, we’d be in Paris several times a year and so we grew to know the city like the proverbial backs of our hands. But focuses change over time, and with kids growing up and life intruding we made it to Paris less and less. Before we knew it, it had been probably ten years since we’d visited!
So more or less on a whim, we booked a week. And by “whim,” I mean “discovering cheap flights direct from Cincinnati” 😀

But this was an impromptu trip… so we impromptued a side trip up to London first cause we haven’t been there in forever either! So, we land in CDG and then take the RER to the dreaded Gare du Nord.

Taking the Chunnel, aka the EuroStar, should be pretty cool… after all, it costs more than a friggin flight!

Paris Gare du Nord… we have such a history here that it would take a few entire blog posts to describe it all! But at the moment, we are totally jet-lagged, and our first task of the “day” is to find the freaking Chunnel train somehow in all this confusion.
But apparently having first-class tickets helps, we were eventually led into a very charming lounge–had no idea Gare du Nord had such nice areas tucked away!

Next post: London!!
