Before I get to all the fun parts, please know that a lot of difficult personal events happened in the mere three weeks (!?!) since I got home from Japan. I only bring this up because when I went over my journal and notes from this trip, it’s so obvious that my head had suddenly moved into a completely different space. Accordingly, these Greece posts might have a slightly different vibe compared to the carefree Japan posts. OK, with that understanding behind us, listen up ’cause this really was an extraordinarily fun and memorable trip!
Who knew there could be a direct flight from Cincinnati to Paris??Seemed so odd but we’re not complaining! Anyway, this first leg of the trip was a snap, I think we both collapsed from exhaustion the second the flight took off. It had been a long few weeks, to say the least.
We arrived in CDG, and it was exciting to think we were back in France after all these years, even if it was just an airport layover. So we made it a point to eat French! We found a great bistro in 2F and had a terrific cheese plate along with two glasses of Haut Medoc.

The second leg of the trip, Paris to Athens, was a lot longer than I had expected—you figure you finally make it over the Atlantic to Europe, now everything should be close by! I think it was like another three-and-a-half hours to Athens?
Fun fact: contrary to our expectations, the food on the Delta flight was much better than the food on the Air France flight!

And we finally made it to Athens!! This was our first time here, so it was extra exciting.

The first order of business was to find dinner!!

Wow what a great meal after a very long travel day. Judging from tonight’s dinner, I’ve never had actual Greek food before, just sorta shitty “Greek Specialties!!” places at the food court I guess.

But no sight-seeing tonight, we’re totally wiped. We wandered around the local neighborhood a bit and then absolutely crashed at the hotel.
